Outside of Chicago most people probably don’t know his name or his eponymous rib joint but for 10s of thousands of north shore residents, Northwestern University students and faculty, and Chicagoans all over Hecky Powell was a rib master and family man and active citizen.
I knew Hecky a little during my days when the office was in the Technology Innovation Center and then later in downtown Evanston, as well as through city “stuff” as a member of the Evanston Public Art Committee.
Hecky Powell you will be missed but I hope you’ve taken some sauce with you for others to enjoy.
