Joomla kicked off the summer with style and substance. There are a lot of kudos to go around but the J and Beyond team and the Joomla release team deserve much praise.

First, from May 29 through 30 (depending on your timezone), J and Beyond hosted 24 hours of non-stop sessions. It was an amazing effort with a wealth of content for one of the largest, by usage, open source projects on the internet. All of the sessions are available on YouTube.

Dear Joomla community around the world, it was an honor for us to give you the last 24 hours with great presentations cross-over. We hope you had a lot of fun and have learned something.

J and Beyond

Second and very exciting, is the announcement of Joomla 4 Beta 1. Joomla 4 has been in development for years with starts and stops, refactoring and rebuilding. Over the last few months the pace of development has increased as well as the overall community participation around Joomla 4.

We believe we can improve on what is already a great product.

I’m looking forward to kicking the tires this week especially with web services, workflow, and the media manager. Remember (REMEMBER!) this is a beta release, so no production Russian roulette.
